Quentin P. Stinson

Quentin P. Stinson, 74, of 121 West Wick Street, Morton died at 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at White County Hospital in Sparta, Tenn.
He was born September 11, 1925, in Eldorado, IL to Murray and Pearl Cable Stinson. He married Barbara Melvin on June 11, 1948 in DuQuoin, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bob (and Barb) of Chillicothe and Buck (and Beth) of Richmond, Virg.; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Jody) Toth of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. John (Bonnie) Fairchild of Bartonville; 8 grandchildren and 1-step grandson.
He was preceded by his parents and one sister.
He was a coach and teacher at DuQuoin Township High School from 1948 to 1951. He then worked as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 24 years until retiring in 1975. He was also a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I.
He was a 1948 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Mr. Stinson was an All-American basketball player at S.I.U. and was later drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers. In 1978 he was one of the original members inducted into the S.I.U. Sports Hall of Fame.
He served in the Army Air Force during WWII.
Services were held 11 a.m. Friday at the Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton with the Rev. Gerald Tupper officiating. Visitation was held from 5-8:00 p.m Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial was in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
